ALERT: Dealerships in “Red Zones” are considered essential

Alert: DEALERSHIPS IN “RED ZONES” ARE CONSIDERED ESSENTIAL, MAY OPERATE WITH CERTAIN RESTRICTIONS
Empire State Development (ESD) issued a separate essential business list for the Cluster Action Initiative, which may be found here. This is in response to last week’s announcement by Governor Andrew Cuomo to address clusters of COVID-19 as they appear in the State. This initiative details New York’s current plans to deal with clusters of COVID-19: by designating red (severe), orange (less severe), and yellow (caution) zones as they appear in the State. Red zones, which designate the most severe outbreaks, have the most restrictions in place, including the restriction that non-essential businesses must close all in-person operations. Orange and yellow zones do not impact dealership operations.
Dealerships in red zones must follow certain restrictions. In-person vehicle showing, delivery, and return are allowed, but by appointment only. Vehicle repair and maintenance may continue in-person.
